ICE's work in the South West is carried out by members on various committees and groups. These bring together like-minded people and give members the opportunity to increase their knowledge, get advice and raise the profile of civil engineering in the region.

    ICE South West's Regional Committee is made up of more than 30 members. It works with the Regional Support Team to make sure the branch's work reflects ICE's overall aims and priorities.

  • Graduate and Students

    The ICE South West Graduates and Students Committee organises various activities throughout the year, including networking events and the graduates and students conference. There are graduate and student groups in Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Swindon and Truro.

City Clubs

The South West has 12 dedicated city clubs across the region, which organise a programme of events on civil engineering topics. Each club is run by a committee of volunteers with a range of interests and from a variety of education and employment backgrounds.

This makes clubs suitable for all members - from technicians to fellows - and, when it comes to events, there's something for everyone. Some lectures may also be of interest to school students and members of the public. details of these are available on our website.

Bath City Club

The Bath City Club is usually on the third Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December). Meetings are chaired by Harry Giblin, supported by the committee volunteers, and events include a range of lectures and site visits. For more information, please see the events pages.

Bristol City Club

The Bristol City Club normally gets together on the first Tuesday of each month (excluding August). Meetings are chaired by Richard Sambrook with the support of committee volunteers, and the club organises a variety of lectures and site visits. For further information, please see our events pages.

Channel Islands Group of Professional Engineers

The Channel Islands Group of Professional Engineers (CIGPE) is the representative body for the professional engineering institutions in the Channel Islands. The group represents a wide range of engineering institutions although the principal sponsors are the IET, ICE and IMechE.

CIGPE organises a number of engineering events each year including a series of technical lectures. These events are free to attend and contribute to Continued Professional Development. While aimed at engineers, our events are open to all members of the public.

Cheltenham and Gloucester City Club

The Cheltenham and Gloucester City Club usually meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December). Meetings are chaired by Marian Roberts, supported by the committee volunteers, and include lectures and site visits. For further information, please see our events pages.

Dorchester City Club

 

Dorchester City Club meetings typically take place in the third week of each month (excluding August, September, and December) and are currently chaired by Stuart Allen. Exeter City Club

The Exeter City Club, chaired by Alex Crump with support from committee volunteers, is usually held on the third Thursday of each month (excluding August). The group organises a variety of lectures and site visits. For further information, please see our events pages.

Plymouth City Club

The Plymouth City Club normally gets together on the second Tuesday of each month (excluding August). Meetings are chaired by Katy Toms, supported by the committee volunteers, and the Club's programme of events includes lectures and site visits. For more information, please see our events pages.

Poole City Club

Poole City Club meetings usually take place on the third Thursday of each month (excluding August and December) and are currently chaired by Ian Woolgar, supported by the committee volunteers. The Swindon City Club holds meetings on the first Wednesday of each month (excluding August and December), which are chaired by Claudia Philps, supported by the committee volunteers. They organise a wide range of lectures and site visits. For further information, please see our events pages.
