Maritime Expert Panel

The Maritime Panel provides technical knowledge in key areas such as coastal erosion, flooding, offshore energy, ports and inland navigation.

The Maritime Expert Panel supports our key learned society objectives of policy consultation, knowledge provision and thought leadership. The panel works with our staff to deliver outputs focusing on key areas in the sector including coastal engineering and management, dredging, flood risk management, offshore engineering, ports, harbours, and docks.

    Maritime Expert Panel

    Nick is National Senior Coastal Adviser in the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Directorate at the Environment Agency (2009-present). He works closely with the coastal engineering community nationwide to develop and maintain coastal risk projections, strategic coastal management planning and a range of research & development initiatives.

What are we working on?

The panel supports ICE's learned society activity in the following ways:

  • Informing our policy work, including our State of the Nation reports and consultation responses.
  • Creating our knowledge material, including case studies, briefing sheets, recorded lectures and blog articles.
  • Supporting our thought leadership programme, identifying industry trends and challenges.

The panel has helped deliver a range of our coastal, maritime and offshore discipline outputs, including:
