The Scottish Ground Engineering Group of the ICE and the Central Scotland Regional Group (CSRG) of the Geological Society of London are jointly hosting a poster competition in Ground Engineering and Engineering Geology. The event will take place on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 at 5.30 PM at Strathclyde University’s Technology & Innovation Centre, Glasgow to coincide with a social evening for members and guests of both groups.
The format for the competition comprises displaying of a maximum of 12 posters by those selected to present and answering informal questions from the judges. Following this, a maximum of four posters shall be advanced to the next stage of the competition which consists of a 10-minute presentation of the poster with a 5-minute question/answer session. Selection for entry to Stage 2 will be carried out on the night by a panel of judges.
The posters include a summary of the geotechnical or geological work carried out by the entrant, including a statement of the aims of the project or study, the methods employed, and the results gained together with analysis, conclusion and recommendations.
Additionally, an intermission talk will be given by Sebastien Manceau of Atkins on the “Application of the findings of the PISA Joint Industry Project in the design of Monopile foundations for a North Sea wind farm”.
