Bridges to Prosperity: The Gasyogogo Launching method, Glasgow

About this event

In July 2019, a team of 10 volunteers from Balfour Beatty and Mott MacDonald travelled to Muyunzwe in Rwanda’s Southern Province to build a 32m span suspended cable bridge for Bridges to Prosperity(B2P).

To add value to the project and to B2P’s future builds, the team aimed to innovate aspects of their suspended bridge construction methodology related to the decking construction, as this was seen as an area where safety could be most significantly improved. The talk will cover the context to the trip, a summary of innovations made to the construction process, the outcomes of the projects, lots of photos and videos from the most recent bridge and information on how you and your company can get involved in future builds.

Pizza served from 5.45pm for a 6.15pm start. The talk will last half an hour, with 15 minutes for questions.
