This talk will give details of the work being done towards the second generation of Eurocodes, expected to appear in the early 2020s. The impact of Brexit on the status of European Standards in the UK will be discussed and ways you can engage with the future development of Eurocode 7 will be explained.
The audience will get to hear about ongoing developments in Eurocodes and gain Andrew Bond’s view of the codes post Brexit.
Andrew Bond graduated from Cambridge University with 1st Class honours in 1981 and completed his MSc and PhD at Imperial College, winning the 1989 Unwin Prize. He worked for the Geotechnical Consulting Group for 10 years before founding his own company, Geocentrix, in 1999 concentrating on software development and consulting.
Andrew has served on the Eurocode 7 committee since 1997, becoming chairman in 2010. He now leads the work on the second generation of Eurocode 7 due in 2020. He re-wrote the British Standards for foundations (BS 8002) and earth retaining structures (BS 8004) on behalf of BSI. He is co-author of the book ‘Decoding Eurocode 7’ and is well known for his Eurocode training courses delivered in the UK, Africa, South East Asia, and China.
