Kelvin graduated from the University of Birmingham and joined Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners (now part of Jacobs). He worked for Gibb in the UK and overseas (Oman & Falkland Islands) and completed a MSc at Imperial College. He then joined the Geotechnical Consulting Group where he became a Senior Partner specialising in the application of numerical methods to geotechnical problems and the control of construction to limit the impact of construction on infrastructure. He is a Visiting Professor at Imperial College.
Rachel has over 25 years’ experience in practical geotechnical engineering covering construction, tendering, forensic work, and all aspects of design from scheme development through detailed design and on to validation and control. With a background in contracting Rachel is keen on the optimisation of geotechnical elements and the rationalisation of temporary works where possible.
Her experience in specialist geotechnical contracting and managing an expert geotechnical team for a major contractor provides a clear understanding of critical drivers leading to effective geotechnical solutions. Rachel also has a particular interest in using the observation method for geotechnical operations.
