After so much hard work during college, you are ready to start your first engineering job. Congratulations! This is an exciting time, but there are a lot of new things coming at you all at once which can be daunting.

Join us for a workshop that focuses on the aspects of working as a fresh graduate for a Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy in the Infrastructure sector. This workshop will cover some of the questions fresh grads may have such as: the first design task, how to prepare well, which Structural Engineering knowledge is useful, and what digital skills are needed to start.
Workshop will cover basics of bridge engineering – an eye opener. The aim is to introduce a bridge, purpose, types, aesthetics in bridge design, factors deciding bridge types, components of a bridge and role of a bridge engineer. Will explore the bridge as a key element in the transportation system.
This lecture provides an overview of project management in practice, from a consulting engineer’s perspective. It covers project management through the project life cycle, which includes project scoping, planning, implementation, monitoring and control as well as project closure. Examples will be given, together with project management tools.
David is an Assistant Manager – Design, currently working in MMC-Gamuda on the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KV MRT) Line 2 (from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya) in Malaysia.
He started his career in London, United Kingdom as a Graduate Engineer on the London 2012 Olympic Park Infrastructure, then moved on to various structural projects including oil and gas projects. He returned to Malaysia in 2016 to work on the ongoing mega projects.
Bill is a British Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 40 years experience in the Geotechnical sector. He has worked for both specialist contractors and consultants based in Hong Kong, Bangkok and now in Kuala Lumpur.
A director in Tony Gee and Partners, Bill's experience ranges from piling & foundation works to deep basements, retaining walls, various types of ground treatment, marine works and slope stabilization techniques.
He now spends an increasing amount of time acting as an Expert Witness involving such matters.
Bence is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer at Arup Singapore.
He has worked as Digital Engineering Stream Lead (Parametric Design) in the Singapore office and Design Review Lead of projects of the Singapore Infrastructure C&S Group as well as the Lead Structural Engineer, Design Manager for transportation infrastructure and building projects located in the USA, UK, Hungary, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Australia and New Zealand.
Tzyy Wooi, Teh FICE CEng obtained his BEng in Civil & Structural Engineering from Malaysia and his MSc in Bridge Engineering from University of Surrey UK. He was awarded the “Young Engineer Award 2009” for the landmark project; bridge connecting Jalan Dewan Bahasa – Jalan Hang Tuah in KL, Malaysia.
He has designed numerous highways and railway bridges locally, in ASEAN countries, Hong Kong and South Africa. Currently, he is one of the Directors of H&T Consulting Engineers Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
Ir Tan Sin Nyap is a Chartered Professional Engineer with 19 years of maritime engineering experience as a consulting engineer in the UK, Australia, Malaysia and the UAE. He has delivered a vast variety of maritime engineering projects including port development, waterfront development, artificial islands well as shoreline protection works.
A Senior Project Manager at Jacobs Dubai, Sin Nyap brings together the complex multi-disciplinary aspects of maritime engineering projects to deliver effective solutions. He was also a founding member of ICE Malaysia, served as the Honorary Secretary of the Pro Tem Committee of ICE Malaysia 2017/2018.
