Invasive non-native plant species, webinar

About this event

Invasive non-native species represent one of the greatest threats to biodiversity worldwide. Nationally, the introduction of non-native plant species has led to dramatic changes in the composition of Britain’s flora and fauna resulting in wider issues which are outlined within this presentation.

An invasive non-native plant species can be defined as a non-native species that has a  negative environmental, economic and social impact.

Some impacts are:

  • Giant Hogweed plants can cause environmental impacts on our natural environment
  • Health impacts by causing severe skin burns
  • Japanese Knotweed damage to paved surface and building infrastructure
  • Large dense stand of Japanese Knotweed create a monoculture and out competing our native plants

This online event is hosted by ICE South West’s Truro City Club.
