The joint venture of Skanska, Porr and A-hak is replacing critical gas infrastructure for National Grid by constructing a tunnel underneath the Humber Estuary into which a 5km pipeline will be inserted in a single string.
The presentation will provide an overview of the project as a whole, and the tunnelling process. A number of challenges to construction will be explained, together with the solutions that the team implemented to overcome them. There will also be an insight into how the spatial and logistical constraints of the small tunnel were overcome, to enable the installation of slurry booster pump equipment.
