Upon the gradual completion of new residential housing developments, the population together with traffic demand of Tseung Kwan O District will increase progressively. Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel (TKO-LTT) is necessary to meet the traffic demand arising from the anticipated population growth. The works at Junk Bay under Contract Nos. NE/2015/02 and NE/2017/01, as parts of the TKO-LTT project, will be the focuses of this visit.
Contract No. NE/2015/02 includes reclamation of approximately three hectares at Junk Bay, construction of dual two-lane Road P2 of approximately 800m long, with approximately 200m of the depressed carriageway covered by landscape deck, and implementation of the associated building, civil, structural, marine, electrical and mechanical, landscaping and environmental protection and mitigation work.
Contract No. NE/2017/01 includes construction of a marine viaduct forming the TKO Interchange at Junk Bay.
During the TKO-LTT visit, participants will explore and identify the technologies applied in the works. The visit will also feature a marine site visit by boat, allowing participants to closely learn how the marine mud treatment helps mitigating the environmental impact during the works.
