ICE West Midlands Graduates, Students, Apprentices and Technicians are invited for an informal session with Rachel Skinner and her Future Leaders as part of the ICE President’s virtual visit to the West Midlands.
During this session, Rachel will give a brief overview of her Presidential theme, Net Zero Carbon, as well answer some key questions from delegates. This will be followed by an informal online quiz.
The quiz itself will include general knowledge and civil engineering with other topics to be revealed on the night. It’s free to enter and prizes can be won!
Rachel Skinner is Executive Director (Transport) at WSP. She was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2019 and is a Chartered Engineer, Trustee and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Highways & Transportation and a Chartered Transport Planner. In 2016, Rachel was named as one of The Telegraph’s inaugural Top 50 Influential Women in Engineering and in 2017 she was named as “Most Distinguished Winner” and “Best Woman in Civil Engineering” at the European Women in Construction and Engineering Awards.
In late 2018, she was appointed by the Scottish Government as an Infrastructure Commissioner for Scotland and is a Patron of Women in Transport, a not-for-profit networking organisation working to improve gender equality, having been one of its founding board members in 2005.
James is a graduate Bridge Engineer with Arcadis and has been involved with ICE for a number of years. He was a QUEST scholar throughout university and is has been part of the ICE West Midlands Graduates & Students Committee for almost three years. James is the Chair of the West Midlands G&S Committee for 2020-21.
