Overview

This event is for students to learn about professional life from recent graduates.

Our series of careers talk webinars take place with Elena Rinaldi, ICE academic partnership manager, joined by graduates from across the industry.

The events provide students with:

  • A deeper understanding of the field, its current trends, challenges, and opportunities by listening to individuals who, only few years ago, were in their exact same position, at university.
  • Networking opportunities to interact with professionals, ask questions, and make valuable connections that students can build on, in the future.
  • Guidance on different career paths within civil engineering: students can learn about various specialisations, such as structural engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, and more, helping them make informed decisions about their own career goals.
  • Insights into the skills and qualities sought after in the industry. This knowledge can help students tailor their education and personal development to meet the demands of the job market.

The careers talks are also, in turn, a good training opportunity for ICE graduates who, by explaining their work to students, reinforce their understanding of the concepts and projects they've worked on. It challenges them to articulate complex ideas in a simplified manner, deepening their expertise, thus improving their communication and presentation skills, which they will need as part of their initial professional development.

Details of upcoming sessions in the series are below.
