East Midlands Infrastructure Partnership seminar: Developing a new generation with the skills needed for tomorrow’s infrastructure

Adrian Coy FICE

Adrian Coy FICE, chair of the East Midlands Infrastructure Partnership currently acts as an independent consultant.

He chairs the ICE Further Learning Exam Panel and is chief examiner for this master’s level exam.

Adrian has extensive experience of sewerage, surface water & land drainage, highways, transport and traffic, coastal engineering, flood management, emergency planning and general municipal engineering.

Andrew Pritchard

Andrew Pritchard is director of policy and infrastructure at East Midlands Councils and has extensive experience of managing successful partnerships encompassing the public, private and voluntary sectors, and the ability to work effectively in a sensitive political environment.

Rachel Quinn

As executive director of the East Midlands Institute of Technology, Rachel facilitates a partnership of colleges, universities and industry to enhance technical education in the region.

Formerly head of people and skills at D2N2 LEP, Rachel has led or shaped regional policy and programmes for careers, skills, employability and inclusion for the last 20 years. Her successes include publication of the first inclusion strategy aligned to regional economic objectives and the launch of pilot digital skills bootcamps in the East Midlands.

Rachel’s career has spanned three sectors, including roles as CEO of the regional VCS network One East Midlands, within the finance and digital industries and local authority Environmental Health. She worked within in the voluntary and community sector for 15 years in both urban and rural settings before moving to the LEP as inclusion policy lead in 2016. 

Steve Nesbitt

As sector director, Steve is responsible for leading all the innovation and technology projects for the Construction and Infrastructure cluster of sectors within MTC – Manufacturing Technology Centre. 
 
Steve has been involved with the sector since the Construction Innovation Hub in early 2020 and has been leading the Platform Design Program activities. After studying production engineering at Kingston, Steve spent over 30 years leading product and process development projects in manufacturing-based sectors, predominantly aerospace and automotive.

 He has worked within different functions within this time, covering the whole gambit of product and process creation from fundamental research, through series design and development, into mass production and industrialisation, leading several innovative product development programmes. He is now lending this experience to construction and infrastructure sectors, as part of the transformation journey ongoing.

Vicky Evans

Vicky is a chartered town planner, director and Arup’s UK, India, Middle East and Africa graduate programme leader for Cities, Planning and Design. She is group leader for Cities Planning & Design Midlands and Advisory Services Midlands in the UK.

Until recently, she was also the residential business lead for Arup in the UK, Middle East, India and South Africa. She has significant experience in the built environment, housing, planning, energy and infrastructure sectors. Vicky is an independent board member for Nottingham City Homes and Nottingham Homes Registered Provider.

Vicky led the production of Arup’s research on the potential future role of modern methods of construction in the planning system. She led the sustainability strategy for Legal and General Affordable Homes, which set out a roadmap to net zero for their portfolio.
