Huw Llywelyn

Huw has over thirty-five years’ experience in civil engineering. Prior to this role, Huw was business development and sustainability board director for Alun Griffiths Contractors Ltd, based in Abergavenny, South Wales. He was responsible for developing the company strategy, identifying opportunities and work winning. He was responsible for Sustainability performance, including community benefits. He was also Health and Safety Director for over 10 years.

Prior to joining Griffiths, Huw was regional director for Costain Ltd, responsible for the developing and delivering their regional business in Wales. He was employed by Costain for over 20 years, starting with the company on the £200m A55 Conwy Crossing in North Wales.

Huw was a member of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Wales) Executive Board between 2005 and 2019 and Chair in 2008/9. He was also Chair of the HSE’s “Working Well Together” initiative in South Wales for 15 years, a key part of the HSE’s strategy.

Mike Cummine

Mike has over thirty years of industry experience in delivering major infrastructure projects safely, to quality, on time and budget. His engineering career has seen him work on a wide range of prestigious civil engineering projects. Mike has an in-depth knowledge of the Heads of the Valleys having successfully delivered Section 3 of the A465.

His last three projects have Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards including a Gold award for his understanding of the critical nature of Public Liaison. Working on this technically challenging scheme is one that offered expectational appeal for Mike, as it draws on all aspects of his skill set.

Martin Gallimore

Martin is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 25 years’ construction industry experience.  He has managed small to medium sized civil engineering projects including road construction, building infrastructure, environmental schemes and flood defences.

He now delivers public liaison and community benefit management services to major civil engineering companies.  As a Construction Ambassador he works to support delivery of the STEM curriculum to inspire young people throughout South Wales. As Supervising Civil Engineer for the Institution of Civil Engineers, he supports the development of trainees into the industry, including graduates.
