Overview

Peterhead Harbour works entailed the realignment and strengthening of the existing quay walls to allow deepening of the port for larger vessels.

The redevelopment included more than 800m of new quayside, land reclamation utilising dredged material to facilitate future development, widening of the harbour entrance, underwater service crossings, demolition activities and construction of a new fish market.

Peterhead saw its fish landings in 2018 breach the £200m mark for the first time ever, even with the new fish market only operating since June of that year. The success of the town of Peterhead has been intrinsically linked to the harbour for more than 400 years. The project required careful planning and phasing over many different locations to ensure the other businesses and stakeholders remained operational at all times.
