Siân Thomas

An infrastructure professional with a Doctorate in Business Administration, Siân takes pride in providing a unique and powerful combination of expertise and diversity of thought. A Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Chartered Management Institute, Siân has spent over 20 years in infrastructure delivering in general business, project and operational roles.  With experience across UK regulated water utilities, international oil and gas, rail and construction mega projects, she brings a range of alternative perspectives to enabling success and driving change.    Her doctoral thesis explored collaboration between teams in a mega project, fuelling her passion to understand how to facilitate the best and most productive interactions between teams.

As the daughter of a proud Welsh railwayman, inspired to become an engineer because of her father’s railway obsession, Siân joined the industry later than planned in October 2020.  As the Director of Engineering and Asset Management for the Southern Region at Network Rail, she is passionate about delivering for passengers, making the devolved operating model work as it should, addressing the sustainability challenge and responding to the modernisation necessity.
