The Built Environment (BE) disciplines have dealt with non-digital delivery methods until recently (Hartley et al., 2012; Jacobson et al., 2016), but are now rapidly adopting technologies ranging from drones to the Internet of things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and including VR and 360 photogrammetry.
This current professional practice should be reflected in HE teaching and learning to deliver future-ready graduates to the market place. The emergency created by COVID-19 pandemic has left little room for site visits in the BE programmes. Hence the need for providing our future graduate Engineers with the experience of relevant engineering projects where to find engaging resources.
The case study relates to a SRM DB project in which the different stages of a landmark project in Newcastle is like, covering the design, construction and Health and Safety.
