Overview

The Project is located in the West Cumbrian region in the lake district National Park and a UNESCO world heritage site. It involved a pipe route of 80km and 116km of pipeline which included 5 pipe tunnels and the construction of a new pumping station.

The primary driver of the scheme was the revocation of an abstraction license from Ennerdale Lake, therefore a new supply had to be found. A secondary driver was the deterioration of an ageing water infrastructure in the region.

This construction will leave a legacy providing 250,00 people with a resilient water supply for future generations in the West Cumbria region.
