Overview
The talk will focus on the ground engineering challenges we are overcoming working for British Antarctic Survey, renewing and upgrading their research infrastructure in and around Antarctica. It will primarily focus on the new build of the Quay at Rothera so that the new RSS David Attenborough can be accommodated in the future.
The ground engineering challenges revolved around the approach to availability of suitable fill for the new quay and the techniques required to fix the new quay wall in place. The project is a trail blazer for digital construction and the benefits of building it before you build it.
This is an ICE Wales Cymru Ground Engineering Group event.
