Overview
The ICE Teesside Branch and The Chartered Institution for Highways and Transportation (CIHT) welcome you to join us for this virtual site visit.
Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor Phase 3 (SSTC3) is the critical 2km link between the Northern Spire and Sunderland City Centre.
Sunderland City Council & Capita are providing the Project Management & Site Supervision, and Esh Civils are the Main Contractor for the works.
The project has been on site since May 2019 and the joint site team at SSTC3 will be giving a ‘Lunch-n-Learn’ style presentation to highlight the significant progress made on the scheme.
The location of the scheme provides some unique challenges and the presentation will highlight how these challenges have been overcome through the use of structural and civil engineering.
The presentation will focus on the different elements of construction utilised for the structural retaining walls, the strategic utility diversion work and the sections of road that have been constructed to date.
