Book nowJoin the ICE East Midlands Nottingham, Leicester and Derby Branch (NLD) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) for this lecture as it brings together engineers from High Speed Two’s (HS2) main works, civils contractor Balfour Beatty VINCI and designer Mott MacDonald/SYSTRA to discuss some of the key design and construction aspects of this complex structure.
In August 2024, HS2 unveiled the completion of the construction of the A452 Kenilworth Road Overbridge in Balsall Common, West Midlands. The bridge will carry a diverted dual carriageway over the HS2 railway line. At 185 metres long, 19.5 metres wide and 13.9 metres high, the overbridge was constructed using 7200 cubic metres of concrete and 1800 tonnes of steel, making it one of the largest “box” structures on the HS2 project.
The Institution is the world's largest membership organisation dedicated to structural engineering.
