Overview

The Visual Impact Provision (VIP) project has restored the beautiful Dorset downland landscape with the removal of 22 pylons over an 8.8km stretch between Winterbourne Abbas near Dorchester and Corton Ridge towards Weymouth.

Discover the story behind this major, complex development project in an environmentally important location, close to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Find out why it was one of the most transformative, stakeholder-led projects in a generation, recognising and reclaiming our precious wild spaces and their surroundings.

The presentation will touch on complex engineering challenges, as well as the wider legacy of the scheme which has included a greater understanding of human history in the area through extensive archaeological finds.
