The suicide rate among UK construction workers is around three times the national average. These figures have led the The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to examine what steps companies are currently taking to reduce the risk of suicide and promote good mental health.
The CITB has commissioned RSM UK Consulting to conduct the research.
The results of RSM’s study will be used to develop a mental health and wellbeing dashboard for the sector, enabling firms to benchmark their performance and tackle this critical issue more effectively.
Jenny Irwin, economics and consulting partner at RSM said: ‘This is an important area of research to support the sector and inform the CITB, even more essential now given the additional financial, social and health pressures created by the pandemic. We would like as many employers in the construction sector as possible to get behind this initiative by completing the survey.’
The survey, which takes around 10-15 minutes to complete, will gather vital information on current mental health and wellbeing policies, the support programmes and initiatives being implemented and the outcomes being achieved.
The survey can be found online here
The deadline for completion of the survey is December 10th 2020.
