The latest edition of the ICE/Costain Health & Safety Prestige Lecture will see leading experts Dr John Briffa and L. David Marquet address the issues of wellbeing, leadership and keeping workforces safe from harm amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Taking place on Tuesday 24 November 2020 at 09.00am (UK time), the online event will explore how sectors of industry have had to quickly react and innovate their organisational working practices.

It will also question whether we have fully understood, adapted and addressed the health and safety aspects of our new world of work, where more of us are working remotely and where there is a greater focus needed on mental health and wellbeing.

Chaired by ICE President, Rachel Skinner, and Costain’s Managing Director for Transportation, Sue Kershaw, this year’s lecture promises to be an event which inspires us all to lead, adapt and thrive in our new world of work.

Covid-19: An Engineering Approach to Protecting Workers During the Pandemic

ICE released guidance earlier this year urging construction firms against a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach when managing the health, safety and wellbeing of workers amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19: An Engineering Approach to Protecting Workers During the Pandemic is designed to be read in conjunction with appropriate statutory guidance and ensure blanket rules and restrictions are not applied across the entire construction industry.

Embedding learning to eliminate harm

The 2019 ICE/Costain lecture focussed on embedding learning to eliminate harm and examined how effective we were at implementing that learning to continually improve and really eliminate harm. A recording of this lecture from 2019 is available to watch below.
