A number of senior ICE London members, including Sue Kershaw, Managing Director of KPMG and Roma Agrawal MBE, Associate Director of AECOM, have been appointed to the Mayor of London’s new Infrastructure Advisory Panel (IAP), established to contribute to and inform City Hall’s work programme.

The panel, launched by the Greater London Authority (GLA) on Thursday, brings together a diverse range of leading figures from the infrastructure and development field, with its membership being 30% BAME and 70% women. One of its key aims is to address issues around a lack of diversity in the sector.

The group was established following a new report commissioned by City Hall entitled Supporting Diversity and Inclusion in the Infrastructure Sector - which revealed that women, people from BAME backgrounds, disabled and LGBTQ+ Londoners are significantly underrepresented in the industry.

The IAP will also support the Mayor in his ambitions to improve how infrastructure is planned and delivered across London, and is seeking to address policy issues including coordination, resilience, regulation, funding and financing, data and innovation.

Other ways in which the group will support the Mayor will be by constructively challenging and supporting the London Infrastructure Group and the GLA’s infrastructure work; contributing innovative thinking and recommendations in relation to London’s infrastructure delivery, and ensuring that infrastructure policy and delivery continues to cater to and account for London’s diversity.

Steve Lee, Senior Vice-Chair of the ICE London Regional Committee and member of the Infrastructure Advisory Panel, said: “I’m delighted to be appointed to the Mayor of London’s Infrastructure Advisory Panel."

"Civil engineering is at the heart of the capital’s infrastructure and I hope my appointment will allow the ICE London region to build upon our established relationship with the Greater London Authority to help shape London’s future infrastructure needs.”
