Support for transferring to attributes-based IPD
If you think you will be unable to complete your development objective-based IPD before 28 March 2018 you can transfer to the attributes-based system at any point.
We launched the attributes-based programme for completing IPD in 2015 as part of a wider initiative to streamline the process for becoming professionally qualified.
Candidates still need to meet the same high standards, but the attributes-based IPD approach is more straightforward than following the development objectives as it aligns with the requirements of the Professional Review (which is also based on the attributes). This also means that candidates can progress more quickly from completing their IPD to sitting their Professional Review.

If you have a training agreement and transfer to the attributes-based approach you can also benefit from our enhanced IPD Online system. The new platform is mobile friendly, easy to use and includes a host of features to help you record your progress as you work towards becoming professionally qualified.
Deadlines for development objective-based IPD
Deadline for completing development objective-based Training Agreements
If you plan to complete your IPD through a Training Agreement based on the development objectives you will need your completion certificate signed-off by your SCE and then by your local membership development officer (MDO) or membership manager before 28 March 2018.
Please plan ahead and seek an appointment with your MDO or membership manager at least 8 weeks before the deadline.
Deadline for submitting development objective-based Career Appraisals
If you plan to complete your IPD by submitting a Career Appraisal based on the development objectives, the final submission deadline is 28 March 2018.
You can make your submission earlier – upcoming Career Appraisal submission deadlines are on our website.
We recommend that candidates who have not yet started or not made much progress on their submission should follow the attributes-based approach instead (see above).

Applying for Professional Review
The deadline only applies to IPD completion using the development objectives. Candidates that have successfully completed their development objective-based IPD by 28 March 2018 can apply for Professional Review at any point in the future – upcoming application dates are on our website.
