Trustee board update – March 2024

15 April 2024

Trustees heard more about ICE’s corporate and academic partners and reviewed the annual report.

Trustee board update – March 2024
ICE President Anusha Shah gives an update from the latest trustee board meeting.

We had a packed agenda for our first meeting of the year, a clear demonstration of how busy 2024 has already been for the ICE.

We started the meeting with a brief update on the ICE’s Carbon Strategy plan and agreed that a further update will be provided when a company has been selected.

I was also able to update the board that following recommendations from the communications committee, I have written to the Princess Royal asking her to consider being the ICE patron. We are awaiting a reply.

Corporate and academic partners

Director of membership Sean Harris provided an update on our relationship with corporate and academic partners.

Corporate partnerships are extended by invitation to companies that have professional development and qualifications at their core.

Each partnership is based on a bespoke MOU that takes account of employer priorities.

Academic partnerships are similarly bespoke and focused on enhancing the employability of students and supporting academic departments based on their needs.

It was agreed that both are valuable to the institution and that we should continue to cultivate the relationships in a mutually beneficial way.

Annual report

Trustees were asked to review and approve the 2023 annual report. The report outlines the many successes of the institution in 2023 delivered in partnership by volunteers and staff, as well as providing the financial and governance information required by the Charity Commission.

Please keep an eye out for the final report, which will be published on the ICE website in the coming months.

Trustee strategy day

During the strategy day in February, trustees started to discuss plans for 2025 with a focus on our global footprint and the future of knowledge outputs.

The next step is to now consult with the principal committees and council. At the April council meeting, trustees will act as facilitators for syndicate discussions on these important topics.

Principal committees will be consulted during April and May with all the feedback consolidated and used in the first draft of the ICE plan which will be brought to trustee board in June.
