Overview
The Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works (STSTW) to Caverns will release 28 hectares of existing land for future development and enhance the well-being of the Sha Tin community and its environment. This project utilises the caverns as natural barriers to control odour from the treatment facilities, representing a significant step forward in sustainable urban planning.
Through this visit, participants will gain insight into the considerations, challenges and solutions involved in STSTW’s construction. The guided tour at the community liaison centre will introduce advanced cavern construction techniques, sewage and sludge treatment technologies, and effective odour control measures.

Notes
- Registration will be confirmed on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority given to ICE Graduate and Student Members. Only successful applicants will be notified.
- Attendees are not required to bring their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety certificates 'Green Card' for this visit.
- The event will be conducted primarily in Cantonese, and English terms will be introduced where appropriate.
- Attendance certificates will be provided within two weeks of the event only if attendees participate for the entire duration of the event.
- Applicants with no-show records will be given lower priority in future G&S events.

Adverse weather arrangement
The event will be cancelled or rescheduled to another date in the case of a red or black rainstorm signal, or typhoon signal no. 3 or above is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at or after 08.00. The organiser reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event in view of safety or other considerations.
