Awards and competitions

We present a number of awards that recognise outstanding Professional Review performance, civil engineering work and service to ICE.

Professional Review awards

ICE has five awards for newly qualified members. These awards go to members who show an exceptional standard of civil engineering knowledge in their Member or Chartered Professional Review.

James Rennie Medal

The James Rennie Medal promotes the achievements of newly qualified chartered civil engineers.

Tony Chapman award

The Tony Chapman Medal promotes newly professionally qualified incorporated engineers who passed their Incorporated Professional Review in the year before the medal was awarded.

Jean Venables Medal

The Jean Venables Medal promotes newly qualified engineering technicians who passed their Technician Professional Review in the year before the medal was awarded.

Renee Redfern Hunt Memorial Prize

The Renee Redfern Hunt Memorial Prize Is awarded for the best response to the Communication Task. Named after an ICE staff member who served as an examinations officer from 1945 to 1981.

Karen Burt Memorial Award

The Karen Burt Memorial Award goes to a high-calibre female who is a recently chartered engineer, applied scientist or IT professional. This award, which commemorates Dr Karen Burt, is given by the Women's Engineering Society.

Awards that promote civil engineering excellence.

Our Annual Awards recognise both outstanding civil engineering achievements and contribution to the profession and ICE.

ICE has awards for graduates and students. They're a great way of adding to your CPD and helping you to make your mark.

The Emerging Engineers Award promotes and rewards excellence in the originality and communication of civil engineering ideas and research.
