Overview

This session is hosted by the ICE North West Early Careers network, with guest speaker Andy Threlfall, Costain’s Chief Engineer.

Andy will be talking about design related challenges, process safety thinking, how to achieve ‘safe-by-design’, data and assumptions, communication and more- all illustrated with cross-industry case studies.

The presentation is aimed at all roles involved in project delivery including design, construction, safety, environmental and project management.

The overarching aim is to broaden the thinking of our all teams to deliver safer projects using notable failures and case studies as learning points.

Included in the presentation will be topics such as RAAC planks failures, safe design of drainage systems, the Beirut Port explosion and off-site manufacturing risks.

The event follows on from the 2021 Costain: Safety by Design session, so attendees are encouraged to watch the recording, ahead of attending this event.

This is a popular topic and booking is essential to guarantee a place - a link will then be sent to you ahead of the event.
