Overview
There is a need for change across our industry. The use of technology is intrinsic to our daily lives and yet, when it comes to our working environments and processes, we encounter reluctance to embrace and adopt ‘data and digital’ technology in varying forms. This apprehension can be seen at all levels within an organisation, from senior leaders to those with their ‘boots on the ground’.
We want to invite you to our latest webinar to discuss the digital transformation journey. Together, we will draw on the results of our Enabling a Digital Transformation survey and discuss some of the conclusions and actions identified by our ICE members.
Together, we will consider how data and digital technology is an enabler, rather than an end in itself. We will delve deeper into the benefits of improving information management from an enterprise, organisation, and project-specific perspective. Additionally, we will consider the various challenges and the traditional ‘risk/technology-averse culture’ associated with construction and engineering. And finally, this is an opportunity to discuss training and the possibilities and benefits that this could bring to individuals, organisations, and the wider industry.

Mark Enzer OBE FREng
A former chief technology officer at Mott MacDonald, Mark Enzer advises the company’s key clients on digitalisation and broader industry transformations. He was previously director of the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Digital Built Britain, where he led the national digital twin programme. A champion of outcomes-focused systems thinking, the circular economy and collaborative delivery models in the built environment, Enzer is a visiting professor at both Cambridge and Imperial College London. He is also a member of the prime minister’s Council for Science and Technology.

James has a unique background in software, technology and the AECO vertical markets spanning nearly 3 decades, all with a focus on growing and advancing our astonishing industry through digital adoption.
Currently, as Dir. Global Industry Development, for the Build & Construct division of Nemetschek, James is responsible for ensuring the global alignment and synergy of technology solutions, with the needs and values of the industry.
Previously, James was Bluebeam’s UKI+ Regional Director, where he drove commercial growth through the positioning and utilization of technology. James is an active member and participant with numerous industry affiliations and strategy advisory boards. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in 3D Design with Applied Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.

Emma Wei
Emma is a civil engineer specialising in rivers and hydraulic engineering, working in the water sector for Mott MacDonald. She joined Mott MacDonald in 2019 after graduating from university and has worked on projects such as HS2, river restoration schemes, and flood alleviation schemes in England.
Emma is passionate about data and digital, specifically coding and automation. Emma has been involved in coding club activities since joining Mott MacDonald and learnt coding part-time. She enjoys developing coding solutions to improve the efficiency and accuracy of her day-to-day project work.
As one of the eight current ICE President's Future Leaders, Emma was invited to join the ICE Data and Digital CAB where she has found a new passion in promoting the use of digital solutions to a wider audience and upskilling civil engineers.
