Overview
This ICE East Midlands webinar will focus on the need for a fundamental change in how cities tackle urban water challenges and develop visions for ‘blue-green’ urban futures.
Blue-green infrastructure (BGI) is defined as multi-functional solutions in cities that are inspired and supported by nature, but which are also cost-effective. BGI simultaneously provide environmental, social and economic benefits, as well as help build resilience and adapt to the challenges of climate change.
Nanco Dolman, Royal HaskoningDHV, will provide real examples of the benefits of multi-functional approaches to BGI in four cities worldwide (Newcastle in the UK, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Ningbo in China and Portland, Oregon in the US), as well as discuss the Blue-Green Futures’ research project which brings together international researchers from three Continents.
