Named after Sir Harold Harding, former president of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and founding chair of the British Tunnelling Society (BTS), the Harding Prize competition invites engineers aged 33 or under to submit an original paper “addressing aspects of tunnelling which are considered of interest to the tunnelling industry”.
The submitted papers are assessed by a judging panel, which selects a shortlist of finalists.
Based on paper submissions from 11 applicants, the following finalists have been shortlisted:
The above finalists will present their papers at this BTS evening meeting and respond to questions from the judging panel as part of the final stage of the evaluation process.
The event will conclude with the announcement of the winner of the 2026 Harding Prize.
