Overview
We learn from mistakes. Some are ours, some are not, but we’ve seen them happen and try to learn lessons from them.
A wander through problems experienced on a range of schemes will be used to draw out some fundamental, often simple, practical learning points.
Since issues often appear to arise when construction, which is a technical matter is managed by the non-technical, this will beg the question; do engineers deserve our status…or lack of it?
John Moran is the current Chair of the South East Region. Over 30 years as chartered engineer, he has worked on site, in consultancy, local authorities, as an academic and as a director in a research institute.
He currently runs a consultancy and lectures at Master’s level at the University of Greenwich and the Royal School of Military Engineering.
