Overview
This event is organised by ICE Wales Cymru West Wales and Swansea City Club.
Steve Keating (Pembrokeshire County Council) will first talk about Milford Haven: Energy Kingdom (MH:EK) and establishing seed markets for hydrogen.
MH:EK is a two-year £4.5 million detailed design project, completing in 2022, exploring what a decarbonised smart local energy system could look like for the Milford Haven Waterway including the towns of Milford Haven, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock. The project will explore the potential of hydrogen as part of a multi-vector approach to decarbonisation.
Central to the project, and to achieving net-zero, is a commitment to engage with the community and local industry, providing insight and opportunities for growth. The ambition is to gather detailed insight into the whole energy system around Milford Haven, to identify and design a future smart local energy system based on a truly multi-vector approach (heat, electricity, transport) and comprehensive energy systems architecture.
Following on, Tim James (Port of Milford Haven) will talk about the Pembroke Dock Marine (PDM) City Deal project.
Pembroke Dock Marine will create the spaces, facilities and services needed by industry to innovate while driving down operational costs. It will act as a catalyst for what is a powerful suite of global markets, by offering unrivalled location, knowledge and expertise, supply chain excellence and connectivity benefits. It will help to nurture developing technologies, most immediately acknowledging the real and immediate opportunity presented by the nascent marine energy sector and minimise risk for investors in a fast-growing sector.
