Overview

Nigg East Quay Development. Early 2021 Farrans Construction were awarded a contract to construct a new 225m long finger quay for Global Energy Group within the Port of Nigg in the Cromarty Firth, Scotland. Works consisted of the detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning of the new heavy duty quay, along with associated dredging operations.

Farrans Project Manager, Mark Galbraith, and their designer HBPW Practice Partner, Paul Monaghan, will take you through the project scope touching on design and construction challenges encountered while delivering this key project for a valued client.

Mark Galbraith

Mark graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2010 with a MEng Honours Degree in Civil Engineering. Mark has worked with Farrans Construction on projects throughout England and Scotland and has progressed from a Site Engineer role to his current role as Project Manager. Mark has been involved in a wide range of projects including utilities, infrastructure, renewables and ports and harbours.

Paul Monaghan

Paul graduated from the Dundee University in 1999 with a BEng Honours Degree in Civil Engineering. Paul worked with Main Contractor Mowlem Civil Engineering for seven years in the Western Region working predominantly on Railway Infrastructure Projects and Dublin Port Tunnel. Paul joined HBPW in 2006 and has worked as a Project Director and Engineering Design Manager on a wide variety of Heavy Civil Engineering Transport and Marine Projects.
