The OES acts to promote interest and scholarship in both the scientific and applied aspects of offshore engineering.
The OES AGM will precede this lecture. The AGM will commence at 18.00.
The presentation will open with an introduction to the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) as a trade association, outlining its role and the organisations it represents. It will then explore who IMCA’s core members and their clients are, and the nature of their work.
From there, the focus will shift to the evolution of safety in the offshore sector, tracing its journey from past practices to the present day.
The session will highlight key trends, challenges, and changes shaping the industry, while showcasing some of the innovative safety approaches and ideas currently being developed by IMCA members.

Nick worked full-time for the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) from 2005 until 2022, in a variety of roles including looking after Health and Safety, Environmental Sustainability, Offshore Survey, Remote Systems and ROV, Marine Security, and Competence and Training.
Today, as a part-time contractor, he is responsible for all IMCA Safety Flashes and safety statistics, and for supporting the development of safety promotional material and related guidance. Before joining IMCA, he had a career as a chief observer and senior survey engineer working all over the world in marine seismic survey.
