Overview

Designed for current and future decision makers in the profession who are either developing or interpreting construction contracts, this series delves into the nuances of Scots law and how these nuances could affect the everyday delivery of a construction contract. 

This is the fifth and final seminar delivered by Morton Fraser MacRoberts LLP (MFMac) in partnership with the ICE Glasgow and West of Scotland Branch.

This seminar will focus on the nature and structure of the courts in Scotland and will include the different jurisdictions of the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session, featuring key insights from Michael Vaughan, Solicitor Advocate and Legal Director in MFMac's Litigation team.

Michael Vaughan

Michael is a solicitor advocate and legal director in Morton Fraser MacRoberts Litigation team.

Michael has over ten years’ experience advising on and litigating a wide range of commercial disputes. He regularly acts for companies, public bodies and insurers in proceedings before the Court of Session and the Sheriff Courts. Michael was admitted as a Solicitor Advocate in December 2023, granting him rights of audience in Scotland’s highest civil courts.

He has particular experience in disputes involving commercial contracts, the enforcement of restrictive covenants, and the defence of employer and public liability personal injury claims. Michael is also regularly instructed in judicial reviews, including matters that have progressed to applications before both the UK Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights.

Michael has significant advocacy experience in the Sheriff Courts and has recently conducted a number of successful evidential hearings for commercial clients.
