Overview

David Porter, ICE President, will be hosting an event with ICE Fellows, to discuss  “How we can better communicate the benefits of infrastructure to those who are impacted by it.”

This event will be chaired by David Porter FICE, ICE President and Nick Gray FICE, Chair of the South East England Regional Committee.

The discussion will focus on a debate around how we can better demonstrate the value of infrastructure projects to non engineers – both in the general public, and also to key decision makers.

  • We often focus on the technical delivery when communicating with end users, but could we be better served by focusing on the positive impact to society and the benefits that infrastructure delivers?
  • How do we earn public trust and explain why a project is necessary and the difference it will make to people’s lives?

One of the ICE President’s themes is a focus on “how to communicate the benefits of infrastructure to a non-technical audience”, and David Porter is keen to engage with those who are delivering infrastructure in the South East of England, to explore the challenges and opportunities that we have to make infrastructure that is sustainable, and delivers in a positive way for those communities affected by it.

A light buffet and drinks will be served.
