Academic Assessment is for candidates who don't have the qualifications to automatically apply for a particular grade of ICE membership or Engineering Council registration.
EUR ING applications are made directly by candidates via an online application system located on ENGINEERS EUROPE's website.

Fellowship, is our highest grade of membership. It's for civil engineers and technicians who've made a substantial contribution to the profession.
- Applications submitted by 23 February 2026 will be assessed and if applicable interviewed before the 15 June 2026.
- Applications submitted by 22 June 2026 will be assessed and if applicable interviewed before the 19 October 2026.
- Applications submitted by 26 October 2026 will be assessed and if applicable interviewed before the 18 February 2027.

Mutual Recognition and Recognition of Engineering Council Registration
Your application will be considered by the ICE Exemptions and recognition Panel, who meet regularly throughout the year.

You can apply to join the Register of Ground Engineering Professionals (RoGEP) if you're chartered with ICE, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3), the Geological Society London (GSL), Engineers Ireland (EI) or the Institute of geologists of Ireland (IGI).

Applications can be submitted at any time through the training provider

Sponsor statements of support, if required, must be sent directly to ICE

The application will be checked by ICE to ensure it is compliant

The EPA fee must be paid at this stage (usually by the training provider) in order for the EPA to proceed

Once an application is compliant and paid for, an acknowledgement email will be sent by ICE to the apprentice, their training provider and their employer

An EPA date will then be allocated approximately 10 weeks after the acknowledgement email is sent

EPAs will be held online every 2nd and 4th week of every month (2nd week only in December)

In person EPAs can be arranged in exceptional circumstances. There will be an additional charge for these
Experiential Learning Assessments are assessed in line with the deadline dates below, but you can send us your application at any time.

ICE runs both online and in-person reviews: online offers greater flexibility and supports carbon savings, while in-person reviews are part of reviewer training and development and are vital to the integrity of the reviews programme. You will be able to indicate your preference when applying, but we may need to allocate you to the alternate interview format depending on the reviewers you are matched with.
Within those arrangements, we recognise some candidates will have specific individual requirements and we will of course do our best to meet any such needs. Please refer to the individual requirements section of the relevant professional review guidance if that applies to you and let us know on your application.
Please note that, as part of ICE’s commitment to minimising its carbon footprint, candidates who need to fly to a venue will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
