ICE Vice President Andrew McNaughton has been awarded a CBE for services to national infrastructure in the King’s New Year Honours list 2026.

The ICE Fellow has over 40 years’ experience within the global infrastructure industry, working on projects in the UK, Canada, Sweden, Nigeria, Egypt, Thailand, among many other countries.

He has been instrumental in delivering several of the UK’s major projects, such as High Speed 1, the London 2012 Games and Heathrow Terminal 5.

“I’ve had the honour of working on some of the UK’s most notable projects, and to receive a CBE for those contributions is humbling,” McNaughton said.

“That the recognition relates to my services to national infrastructure in particular is encouraging. It shows just how vital our work as civil engineers is towards enabling the UK, and indeed the world, to thrive.”

Throughout his career as Chartered Engineer, project manager and executive officer, McNaughton has become an expert in infrastructure delivery.

In 2020, he led an ICE study into the matter, which led to the Defining a Systems Approach to Infrastructure Delivery report.

Subject to interim annual election by council, McNaughton will become president of the ICE in November 2028.
