The Robert Stephenson Awards celebrate talented individuals and impressive engineering projects from across north-east England.

Judges of the Robert Stephenson Awards are in for a treat as a broad range of civil engineering projects from across north-east England make this year’s shortlist.
Fifteen engineering projects from across the region have been shortlisted in the annual awards, and they’re not short on variety. They range from water schemes to bridge refurbishments and even include a Roman museum.
The awards aim to shine a light on the civil engineering talent and expertise that exists across the North East. It’s an opportunity to celebrate outstanding projects and individuals and award recognition for hard work in the profession.
The project award categories
- Large Project Award for projects costing under £5 million
- Medium Project Award for projects costing between £1 million and £5 million
- Small Project Award for projects costing under £1 million
- Technical Excellence Award aimed at teams, specifically seeking to recognise excellence in the decarbonisation of civil engineering and the infrastructure sector
The individual award categories
- Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Champion Award for someone who has made significant contributions to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within the field of civil engineering and the built environment
- Sustainability Champion Award for someone having a transformational impact, championing sustainable practices across the industry
The winners will be announced on the evening of 10 April at an annual dinner and awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle.
