Which individual project or person inspired you to become a civil engineer?

The engineering expertise on display in the Roman aqueducts, the multifunctional design of the Tower of London, and Sir Isambard Kingdom Brunel's innovative projects have deeply inspired my pursuit of civil engineering.

The aqueducts' blend of functionality and design highlighted the potential for enduring and aesthetic infrastructure.

The Tower of London's varied historical roles demonstrated engineering's significant societal impact.

Brunel's boundary-pushing works in railways and bridges showcased the transformative power of visionary engineering.

The prospect of improving people's lives through sustainable infrastructure, protecting our planet for future generations, and mentoring upcoming engineers is what motivates me each morning.

What’s one great thing that you love about civil engineering that you didn’t know until you started working in the industry?

It would be the fact any complex engineering challenges, without fail, have underlying explanations that are fundamentally straightforward.

The Shard in London.

Not all engineers wear a hard hat and high-vis jackets on a daily basis.

What motivated you to become professionally qualified? 

My passion for engineering, commitment to excellence, and desire to contribute positively to the field and society motivated me to become a Chartered Engineer.

What does being professionally qualified with the ICE mean for your career?  

Since childhood, I've been fascinated by how things are built and how they work.

My curiosity about structures and machines sparked my interest in engineering.

During my studies, I was particularly captivated by the physics and science behind buildings, which strengthened my decision to pursue this career path.

Becoming a Chartered Engineer is a key step in my career, allowing me to take on greater responsibilities and lead major projects.

It represents a recognition of my skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

As a Chartered Engineer, I aim to contribute to impactful engineering projects that benefit society, making advancements in sustainable and innovative practices.
