Prafulla M Hiremath MTech GMICE
"...If elected to Council, I will advocate for more tailored support and resources for graduate members, including enhanced mentoring opportunities, career development programs, and initiatives that bridge the gap between university and industry..."
I am a passionate Civil / Structural engineer and want to represent the graduate members who will shape the future of our profession and the society. As a Graduate Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (GMICE) and an Associate Principal Engineer at Arcadis (India), I bring a global perspective and deep understanding of the challenges faced by graduates entering our profession. My journey spans project delivery and leadership across the UK, Canada, USA, Chile and India, working on bridges, buildings, and complex infrastructure projects.
My career is built on technical excellence, team leadership and a commitment to continuous learning. My active involvement with ICE activities—such as site visits to an underground metro station and Jakkur Lake restoration, participation in the ICE Logo Competition for Women in Engineering and volunteering activities—reflects my commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, professional development and community engagement.
If elected to Council, I will advocate for more tailored support and resources for graduate members, including enhanced mentoring opportunities, career development programs, and initiatives that bridge the gap between university and industry. I will ensure the voices of graduates are heard, and that their needs are central to ICE’s future direction.

"…I am particularly passionate about strengthening the connection between Council and graduate members, ensuring their perspectives are heard and that the Institution continues to support and inspire engineers at every stage of their careers…"
Engineers shape the world around us, and the Institution of Civil Engineers plays a vital role in supporting the people who deliver that change.
I am a maritime engineer at WSP and currently serve as Chair of the ICE London Early Careers Network. Through this and prior roles since 2023, I have organised and chaired events bringing together engineers, industry leaders and policymakers to explore the future of infrastructure and the evolving role of engineers in society. I was honoured to be nominated for ICE London Rising Star Award 2025.
My professional work spans ports, maritime infrastructure and offshore wind, with experience across engineering delivery, innovation and operational improvement. These experiences have reinforced my belief that ICE’s greatest strength lies in connecting engineers, ideas and innovation to deliver better infrastructure for society.
If elected to Council, I would aim to represent the interests of graduate members while contributing constructively to the work of Council. I am particularly passionate about strengthening the connection between Council and graduate members, ensuring their perspectives are heard and that the Institution continues to support and inspire engineers at every stage of their careers.
It would be a privilege to serve the Institution and the profession.

"...If elected... I will:
- Uphold the values and standards of the ICE, ensuring that safety and integrity are primary concerns
- Represent my peers, advocating for their views and needs to senior leadership
- Ensure that diverse perspectives are heard..."
I have been a member of the ICE since 2020. My Civil Engineering journey began when I attended Loughborough University as part of a three-year engineering scheme aimed at providing more technically qualified officers for the British Military. My intended path would have been to pursue chartership though the Army as part of the Royal Engineers. My final dissertation demonstrated how climate change has resulted in decreased groundwater levels in East Anglia, showcasing my interest in environmental sustainability and climate resilience in urbanising regions.
Currently I am a graduate engineer at National Highways, where I manage contractors working on infrastructure schemes within the Northwest. I am motivated to learn more about national engineering projects and look for opportunities to contribute within the ICE, advance myself and the teams I am part of.
If elected to the council as a graduate member I will:
- Uphold the values and standards of the ICE, ensuring that safety and integrity are primary concerns
- Represent my peers, advocating for their views and needs to senior leadership
- Ensure that diverse perspectives are heard and acknowledged, reflecting the wide variety of members of the graduate engineering community
- Enable continuous professional development for those under my purview

“If elected, I'll:
- Represent all early career engineers...
- Bring a new collaborative perspective
- Be a voice for women in the industry and... find new ways to make the industry the most inclusive and diverse it can be."
I’ve been a dedicated member of the ICE since graduating from the University of Portsmouth where I completed my MEng in Civil Engineering and would be honoured to serve on the ICE Council.
I’m currently a Civil Engineer in the Rail Civils Team at Arup working on major route upgrade schemes and depot upgrades, designing ancillary civil assets.
Since graduating, I’ve been actively involved with the ICE Early Careers Network, both in the West Midlands and on the Executive Committee, supporting students, apprentices, and graduates in their professional journeys and developing new ways for the early careers community to thrive. I’m also passionate about equality in the industry and advocating for Women in Engineering, inspired by mentors who supported me when I chose to become an engineer and those around me now.
If elected, I'll:
- Represent all early career engineers, advocating for their ideas and thoughts and ensuring their voices are truly heard within the ICE community
- Bring a new, collaborative perspective to the Council, actively supporting and contributing to the growth of the Institution

"...I am committed to unlocking new opportunities, harnessing untapped talent, and empowering underrepresented groups...
If elected... I will...
- Advocate for graduate civil engineers worldwide, ensuring their voices shape ICE decisions aligned with local and global strategic objectives..."
I am a structural engineer at Mason Navarro Pledge (MNP) with broad experience covering building structures, temporary works, highways, and railway civil engineering.
As the London Regional Representative for ICE Early Careers Network (ECNet), I play a key role in bridging the gap between the London network and ECNet groups across the UK and oversees, including ECNet in South-East and Ireland. Building upon my previous role as Vice Chair for Membership, I continue to support membership engagement and enable pathways for emerging civil engineers.
I have a strong vision for a thriving civil engineering industry—one that embraces local and global strategic objectives, including Net Zero and the UN’s 17 SDGs. I am committed to unlocking new opportunities, harnessing untapped talent, and empowering underrepresented groups, including minority groups and international engineers in the UK, to succeed and thrive in our profession.
If elected to Council, I will work to:
- Advocate for graduate civil engineers worldwide, ensuring their voices shape ICE decisions aligned with local and global strategic objectives.
- Foster a more diverse, inclusive and globally connected ICE Early Careers Network of civil engineers.
- Expand opportunities for underrepresented groups, including minorities and international engineers in the UK.

As a dedicated member of the Institution of Civil Engineers since 2023, following my MSc in Structural Engineering from the University of Leeds, I am honoured to seek election as a Graduate Member of the ICE Council.
I currently work as an Assistant Civil Structural Engineer at AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom, undertaking structural analysis and design for infrastructure within nuclear environments. In this role, I have the privilege of contributing to the Rolls-Royce SMR, an innovative small modular reactor project aimed at delivering more sustainable nuclear power plants that require less land, lower investment, and shorter construction time while supporting the UK’s transition to low-carbon energy.
