Overview
In this meeting we’ll be viewing site progress to deliver the new retail park in Newport followed by a presentation finding out about the design considerations which went into developing the scheme.
This new retail park is built on the recently demolished Newport Town football ground (St George’s Park) which has since commenced relocation to the Racecourse, Whippingham. St George’s Park was built in the 1980’s on grazing land in proximity to Lower Shide Mill, one of many mills which defined Newport’s history through the 1800’s.
For site visit:
- Meet at Asda bus stop (What3Words location: ///special.nibbles.linguists). Site visit limited to 20 people.
- Bring your own PPE (boots, hi-viz, hard hat) to go on the site.
- Presentation venue is TBC, close by.
Note: There are regular bus services to Newport for travel from Portsmouth/Ryde Pier on foot. For anyone travelling on foot from Southampton to West Cowes and would like travel assistance to the venue, please contact ICE South East [email protected]
