The newly appointed regional chair will focus on volunteering during her year.
A Chartered Civil Engineer who has volunteered with the ICE since 2014 has been appointed chair of ICE North West’s regional committee for 2025-2026.
Kit Wolverson, senior design manager at Mott MacDonald, was formally elected into the role at the region’s AGM in Manchester on 14 July.
With a strong passion for giving back to the industry, it’s only fitting that Wolverson’s theme during her year as chair is centred around volunteering.
Across the next 12 months, with support from the committee, Wolverson will encourage younger generations to consider a career in engineering by holding STEM events and identifying role models.
She also plans to celebrate the region’s large number of volunteers. She'll appeal to members by highlighting the impact just an hour or two of volunteering can have personally and professionally.
When considering what success will look like in her new role, Wolverson said: “If we have increased engagement across our five regional branches and three special interest groups, that will be a great start.
“The real test of success will come in a few years’ time when we can see the impact of our volunteering efforts.
“I hope we’ll see more children considering civil engineering as a career and have increased the number of members actively volunteering.”
ICE North West regional director, Emma Antrobus, said: “Having been an active member of our regional committee since 2021 and with our Early Careers Network before that, we’ve seen Kit grow not only as a civil engineer, but as a passionate volunteer.
“We’re looking forward to seeing what she can achieve across our region during her year as chair.”
Wolverson takes over the role from Lewis Brimmell, associate director at SLR Consulting, with the role beginning immediately. She will chair the first committee meeting of her term in September.
The ICE North West regional committee
Antje Budge, design coordinator at Balfour Beatty, was elected senior vice chair for 2025/26.
Supporting Budge and Wolverson is Francis Kwateng, head of temporary works at EQUANS, in the role of junior vice chair.
James MacFadden from Sellafield was elected honorary treasurer, while Aman Khandelwal from Tetra Tech was elected as secretary.
Together with the chairs from the North West’s regional branches and special interest groups, these posts will support the regional chair as part of the ICE North West regional committee.
