This submission discusses ICE’s views on some of the public policy challenges concerning the UK’s energy supply over the next decade, including:
- Taking a blended approach to decarbonised energy generation
- The role of hydrogen in the future energy mix
- The challenges around decarbonising heating
- Closing the adaptation and resilience deficit to ensure infrastructure can withstand the rising risks linked to a changing climate
It also examines measures that could help incentivise investment in low carbon energy, including:
- Strengthening net-zero governance
- Continuing to evolve existing mechanisms such as Contracts for Difference and the RAB model
- Supporting nascent markets and technologies
- Building a compelling public narrative and supporting consumers
