ICE HKA G&S organises overseas delegations to encourage knowledge exchange and networking with engineering professionals overseas. The France and Belgium delegation 2026 will be scheduled from 19 to 28 June 2026. The theme of the delegation is ‘Connecting past and future: creating climate resilient cities through smart engineering’, offering participants a valuable opportunity to gain international exposure and broaden their professional horizons.
France and Belgium stand at the forefront of engineering innovation, offering invaluable opportunities to explore how European cities are addressing the challenges of climate change, urbanisation and connectivity. With a strong emphasis on sustainable development, digital transformation and integrated transport systems, the countries provide a rich learning environment for aspiring engineers.
The visit will also highlight the complexities of constructing water treatment facilities in coastal environments, environmental impact mitigation measures and the coordination of multiple infrastructure elements including intake tunnels, treatment processes and distribution systems. Participants will gain insights into the plant's role in Hong Kong's long-term water strategy and sustainable development.
Our upcoming delegation to Paris and Brussels will explore key areas of innovation such as smart mobility and sustainable infrastructure, providing delegates the opportunity to witness first-hand engineering achievements shaping the future of these two vibrant capitals. Delegates will not only visit remarkable projects but also engage with forward-thinking organisations and institutions in France and Belgium. Their commitment to climate resilience, energy transition and sustainable growth underscores the relevance and educational value of this tour for our young engineers.
Through professional exchanges, cultural immersion and academic engagement, participants will gain insights into the latest engineering practices and technologies while broadening their global perspective, deepening their understanding of international engineering standards and strengthening their professional network. Beyond technical learning, the delegation also aims to foster personal growth and cross-cultural appreciation, encouraging delegates to reflect on the role of civil engineers in shaping resilient and inclusive cities.
Following the delegation, participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and takeaways through a dissemination seminar. This platform will allow them to inspire fellow emerging engineers and contribute to the continuous conversation on sustainable infrastructure development, facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices.
